Primary Goals of Peer Accountability Groups

Peer Accountability Groups provide a dedicated space to stay focused, tackle your coursework, and build strong study habits. Led by a Peer Academic Coach, each small group (6 students max) meets weekly for a 1.5-hour structured work session. While everyone works independently on their own assignments, the group environment provides accountability, motivation, and encouragement to help you stay on track.

What to Expect Each Week

  • Goal Setting: Define clear academic goals for your week and session.
  • Focused Task Time: Dive into two dedicated study blocks to get actual work done.
  • Group Accountability: Connect with fellow Bulldogs, celebrate progress, and stay motivated by working alongside others who are committed to their academic goals.

Note: Space is limited! Because consistency is key to success, participants are expected to attend weekly for the full semester.

Students on Academic Warning

Students on Academic Warning are required to meet with a Professional Academic Coach rather than a Peer Academic Coach. The Office of Active Learning will notify these students through UGA email. Students on Academic Warning should book this appointment in the first six weeks of the semester to have the greatest impact on their academic performance. These appointments are scheduled through SAGE rather than Penji. Peer Academic Coaching appointments will not satisfy the Connect & Complete coaching requirement for students on Academic Warning. If you are unsure of your academic standing, visit the Connect & Complete Academic Standing page to learn how to view your status in Athena.

Participation in Peer Education services is subject to University of Georgia Academic Honesty guidelines and the Code of Conduct. Failure to comply with applicable university policies may result in restrictions on participation in Peer Education services.
